Director Loani Arman and creative partner Kelly Hucker won the AACTA Pitch: Forever Unexpected 2019 awards with the short film concept “Our Greatest Escape”, which gave them prize money and support to make the film.  Loani and Kelly pitched against four other filmmaking teams in an event in Sydney.

AACTA Pitch: Forever Unexpected 2019 was sponsored by MINI, who contributed prize money of up to $15,000 towards their film’s production, along with a $5,000 cash prize; a complimentary MINI vehicle for the duration of the shoot; post-production support from Spectrum Films to the value of $2,500; tickets to the 2019 AACTA Awards presented by Foxtel; and feedback and mentoring opportunities with the judging panel.

AACTA Pitch was set up in 2018 to support the next generation of Australian screen industry talent, encouraging new ideas and providing the invaluable opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers to hone their skills by pitching their ideas to industry professionals.

The short film drew from Loani’s personal experience in caring for a loved one with dementia.  In “Our Greatest Escape, a young advertising executive getting back to her creative roots she takes her mum on ‘one last ride’, reminding us all that even though life moves on, there’s still magic and fun to be had.

Loani Arman and Kelly Hucker also produced the feature documentary “My Body Says”, which Angela Cerasi also colour graded.  Their documentary was made as a part of Screen Australia and News Digital’s Doco180 and garnered over half a million views online.
